Stile Gallery of Art & Design
Newport, RI 1997 - 2000

Over the years, I have explored a variety of themes, styles and techniques in my painting. Because of this, I have quite a few series of works, some of which are on view in this site. One of my preferred activities is to do an oil or watercolor on site so that I can enjoy the day and study the landscape. When I look back at the many paintings and sketches that I've done outdoors, I can reflect back onto my life's many adventures. Whether on a mountain hike stopping to sketch a wildflower or painting a snow scene while tucked in against a warm rock on a winter's day, I seek out the beauty in nature. Not only do I enjoy working on location, but in the studio as well where I incorporate some of these studies into the larger paintings. An example of this would be my New England Rock Series, were I used my studies of rocks and the shore line environment to produce colorful 4ft. x 4ft. compositions on panel. Photography has also become a favorite activity because it gives me the opportunity to capture the unexpected in nature while out on a hike or taking a walk at sunset. I will continue to update this website due to the many works I have available and the new pieces I continue to create.
