A Brief Biography of the Artist

Marie Stile received a BFA in Art & Design from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY in the early 1980's.  After graduating, she was awarded an Artist in Residency Fellowship from the Woodstock School of Art, Woodstock, NY.   In 1996, Marie opened the Stile Gallery of Art & Design in Newport, RI.   After closing the gallery, she went back to school for a two year certificate program in Natural Science Illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design.  Marie is currently a member of the Art Student's League of New York were she continues her studies in anatomy drawing and painting.  Her work has been shown in major institutions and galleries such as the Longwood Gardens, Kennett Square, PA; the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn, NY; New York Botanical Garden, Bronx, NY; the Audubon Society of Greenwich, CT; the Audubon Society of Bristol, RI; the Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI and P.S. 122, New York, NY.

From 1997 - 2000, Ms Stile owned the Stile Gallery of Art & Design in Newport, RI.  The gallery held  exhibitions such as these listed below helping to exhibit the works of local and regional artists along with her own art.  The gallery was a working artist studio, exhibition space and participated in a community non profit arts organization called Project One.
