Jagged Fences
After receiving my BFA from the Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, I flew to Europe for what would become a three month hitch hiking adventure.
On returning to America, I began to work on a series of drawings in mixed medium on 40" x 60" paper. Throughout my travels, I'd found myself standing alone on European roadways waiting for a ride. As I had been studying modern jazz dance and ballet while in college, the use of trees, fences, etc., were incorporated into my drawings as a way to express the movement of a dancer's flight against a stark backdrop that trailed off into the distant unknown.
The Jagged Fences, were part of a small group exhibition called The Shifted Landscape at P.S.122 Gallery, NYC.

WARHORSE/WARRIOR SERIES III
It was during the Kosovo War of 1999 that I began to paint the 'Warhorse/Warrior Series III. My paintings tell an illustrated story of the wounded warrior coming home from battle in the Dark Ages and entering into the promise of the 21st Century. In each new painting, the warriors journey continues along the path towards healing and spiritual growth through the personification of his warhorse.
The Warhorse/Warrior Series III was shown in a solo exhibition at the Open Space Gallery in the Newport Art Museum, Newport, RI.

NEW ENGLAND ROCK SERIES - TIDAL POOL SERIES - FLORIDA CLUSTERS
Below are a selection of paintings from the New England Rock Series, the Tidal Pool Series and the Florida Clusters Series. The New England Rock Series, was the first in my exploration and study of the sea life and natural objects found within the tidal pool waters off the coast of Rhode Island.
Looking down into the water, I would observe nature's own abstracted compositions created by the water's movement as the light played upon it's surface. The natural objects below the water were in an array of colorful shapes and sizes. After spending many hours outdoors, I would then take my drawing and painting studies into the studio where I began to work on the larger scale paintings..
The New England Rock Series has been exhibited in two solo exhibitions at the Audubon Society's Educational Center of Bristol, RI, and at the Greenwich Audubon Society, Greenwich, CT. The Florida Clusters Series and the Tidal Pool Series, were exhibited at the G4 Gallery in Orlando, Fl and in the Fish House Gallery, Stuart, Fl.
