At one time I was employed by a small manufacturing company that produced hand painted products on wood such as furniture, shelving and holiday ornaments. Many of the items required painting floral designs.  I left this employment years later to relocate to the USVI.  It was here that I found myself living in an old gardener's cottage where I became inspired to begin illustrating tropical flowering plants and trees.

Rhode Island School of Design

At one point I realized that in order to enhance my illustrating skills, I needed to seek further education. In 2000, I enrolled in a two year Natural Science Illustration Certificate Program at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI.
Below is an illustration from one of my drawing courses taught by artist Amy Bartlett Wright.

Natural Science Illustration

My Natural Science Illustrations and Botanical Illustrations have been exhibited in the New York Botanical Gardens, NY , the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, NY; the Longwood Gardens, PA, the Audubon Society's Educational Center of Rhode Island, the Audubon Society of Greenwich, CT, and the Poudre Valley Art League, CO, along with many other exhibitions.

Portraiture & Figure

The human figure was never one of my strong suits as an artist. Because of this, I decided to enroll in full time figure drawing and painting classes at the Art Student's League of NY  I am currently a lifetime member.
