During a recent trip to the Florida coast, I was able to enjoy daily walks on the beach carrying along with me a sketchbook and paints. This allowed me to sit in the sand for about a half hour to work on a sketchbook study in watercolor or acrylics. A part of the daily adventure was to look for natural objects such as shells, feathers, dried grass, plants or any sea life that may have washed onto shore for interesting subjects to paint or to photograph. Below are two videos on my beach walks and painting sessions demonstrating how an artist must be mindful of the weather while working outdoors, seeking natural objects and other observations along the way.

AuthorI feel as if my artwork gives the viewer an insight into my life's journey. This is most evident in a plein air painting, where I can reflect back to a time and location. My sketchbooks tell a different story of thoughts and ideas scribbled within my drawing and painting studies. Archives
