Part of the outdoor painting experience is in not knowing what I might encounter along the way. On this particular outing, I had to relocate three times due to being bitten by little red ants. This beach morning glory painting study would just have to be finished at home.

Some days when I head out to paint, my time is very limited or the weather begins to change and I’ll have to pack it up and run. And on other days a painting just doesn’t work out so I’ll turn the page to my sketchbook and begin a new study. But to me it’s all an important part in gaining the knowledge of a subject while embracing the adventure of the day! 🌦 I'm always out and about seeking new and interesting things to paint in nature. On this walk along the beach, I came across a large piece of driftwood covered in a soft blue/grey mass of barnacles. |
AuthorI feel as if my artwork gives the viewer an insight into my life's journey. This is most evident in a plein air painting, where I can reflect back to a time and location. My sketchbooks tell a different story of thoughts and ideas scribbled within my drawing and painting studies. Archives
