Orchid Botanical published in the Journal of Natural Science Illustrators Volume 54, Number 1What a wonderful surprise to have been asked to use one of my botanical illustrations, Yellow Orchid, to be published in the Journal of Natural Science Illustrators Volume 54, Number 1.
The article was written by Margaret Oliver, titled: RISD Continuing Education: Natural Science Illustration for All Walks of Life. I painted the Yellow Orchid illustration during my final semester in a two year Natural Science Illustration Certificate program for continuing education at the Rhode Island School of Design in 2002. The Yellow Orchid was painted in watercolor and gouache on a 20" x 30" Bristol 400 series paper. I also completed the same illustration in pencil on a 20" x 30" Bristol 400 series. Both of these illustrations were selected for a group exhibition at the Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA. Many thanks to Margaret Oliver and the person who recommended my work through the RISD. The journal can be purchased through the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators located at: www.gnsi.org/journal-issues-list

AuthorI feel as if my artwork gives the viewer an insight into my life's journey. This is most evident in a plein air painting, where I can reflect back to a time and location. My sketchbooks tell a different story of thoughts and ideas scribbled within my drawing and painting studies. Archives
